It is proposed to construct a dry flood control dam and diversion ditch with cutlet works, spillway structures, and an open discharge channel for protection of the city of Las Cruces and adjacent agricultural lands of Dona Ana County, New Mexico. Excavation of about 135,000 cubic yards of protection stone from an off-site quarry cannot be avoided. Minor losses of marginal wildlife habitat will occur in construction zones.
