A Performance Standard for Foundations and Excavations
The report describes work now in progress on the preparation of a national standard for foundations and excavations under the ASCE-COS 'Committee for Foundation and Excavation Standards,' (CFES). The intent is to write a performance standard which will minimize the constraints caused at times by prescriptive code provisions. The first draft of the standard is being prepared under the direction of the National Bureau of Standards with assistance from a professional working group.
