Clearing the Building Site, Excavations and Foundations
From Chapter 3 on, the focus shifts to how whole buildings and their different parts should be de‐signed and constructed. The process starts with clearing the building site and testing the soil for its load‐bearing capacity and deformability. The preparation of the building site and the excavation work are roughly presented. The performance requirements when choosing and designing a foundation system and some simple foundation solutions are described briefly and concisely. Notes on durability and building physics‐related considerations are given.
