Proposed Inclusion of the Beaver Creek into the National Wild and Scenic Rivers Systems
The project proposes to include a 135-mile segment of Beaver Creek and 200,000 acres of adjacent land generally referred to as Interior Alaska in the National Wild and Scenic Rivers System. Lateral boundaries would not exceed an average of 2 miles on either side of the river. The project will have an overall effect of preserving the existing scenic, recreational and water quality values of the river. Adjacent lands would be retained in their existing primitive condition. Commercial and residential use within the proposed area that might otherwise occur would be precluded. Mining would be prohibited.
