Effectiveness of Anticorrosion Additives in Deicing Salts
The purpose and objective of this study was to evaluate in the laboratory the effectiveness of several anticorrosive salts to reduce corrosion of autobody steel. Also the effects of mixtures of sodium chloride (treated and nontreated) and calcium chloride were studied. In addition to the laboratory studies, a very limited field study was made to evaluate one proprietary product against a nontreated material. All the results of this study, as well as the laboratory studies, were based on the weight loss of steel test panels due to corrosion. (Author)
