Bituminous Stabilization Laboratory Study
The report concerns the bituminous stabilization of three soils. A loam, a fine sand and a dirty gravel were treated with asphalt cement, cutback asphalt, and a road tar. Soil-bituminous mixtures were tested by Hveem Stabilometer, cohesiometer, unconfined compressive strength, also for water absorption, volumetric swell, and freeze-thaw durability. The principal product of this work is the development of a procedure for designing soil-bituminous mixtures in the laboratory. (BPR abstract)
