Conclusions As might be expected, all the above-mentioned measures result in increased construction costs. However, if it is taken into account that the mean height of a rock dump is 60 m, that it has a sanitary zone of 100–120 ha, and that the cost of 1 ha of land, for Donetsk for instance, is 83,000 rubles, then the use of "worthless" land for building projects (in Donetsk there are 130 rock dumps) yields significant savings, which cover all the costs involved in the engineering work for strengthening mine rock bases. Mine rock dumps can be used as bases of buildings and structures after carrying out preparatory measures, which should:Ensure stability of the base underlying the dump (eliminate the harmful effect of underworkings, prevent wetting, etc.).Prevent the decomposition of the dump rock by eliminating its wetting and by using chemical stabilization, as well as the possibility of ignition of the mine rock by converting its surroundings from acid to alkaline.Ensure rational construction of the mine rock base.Isolate the mine rock base from the environment effect.
