Conclusions At existing hydroelectric plants it is essential to carry out not only equipment repairs, with replacement of the rapidly wearing subassemblies, but also reconstruction work, including major jobs, which will improve quality indexes to meet modern demands on the operation of power systems and to ensure prolonged reliable equipment operation. At the same time there should be careful inspection and study of the maintenance documentation and the condition of the equipment.Equipment reconstruction should be carried out as a combined project, bearing in mind that unreliable performance of any particular subassembly leads to unreliable operation of the whole turbogenerator.In resolving the question of equipment reconstruction, it is essential to take into account the real prospects of long-term operation of the structures and equipment, not only under design conditions but also with the possible changes in such conditions.
