Instability investigation of some residual soil slopes in road cuts around Lokoja, Nigeria
Summary Nine slopes along the newly constructed Trunk ‘A’ road through Lokoja were investigated. A total of 20 soil samples were collected for standard loboratory tests and direct shear tests. Two of the slopes were studied in more detail (one each representing sedimentary and Basement Complex regions). It has been found that the effect of parent rocks plays a large part in the instability and also the differential processes of failures of some of the slopes studied.
