Research on road performance of mechanically foamed warm rubber asphalt SMA mixture
The mixing temperature of rubber-modified asphalt pavement is even as high as 190℃, which not only consumes a lot of fuel oil and natural gas, but also generates a lot of harmful and toxic substances such as greenhouse gas and asphalt smoke. In this study, rubber compound modified asphalt was selected as the cementing material. Use mechanical foaming method to prepare warm-mix rubber asphalt SMA mixture and conduct road performance research. The results show that as the rubber powder mesh of the rubber powder modified asphalt increases, the expansion rate and half-life of foamed asphalt increase. The rubber asphalt prepared by using 60 mesh rubber powder has a mechanical foaming rate of 6 times and a half-life of more than 300s. The various road performance indexes of the warm-mix rubber asphalt SMA mixture are equivalent to those of the hot-mix rubber asphalt SMA mixture. The performance of the warm-mix rubber asphalt SMA mixture can meet the technical requirements of the specification (JTGF40). Mechanically foamed warm-mix rubber asphalt can slow down the aging of asphalt materials and improve the effect of compaction due to the reduction of mixing and compaction temperature. After 5 freeze-thaw cycles, the water stability is still comparable to that the hot-mix rubber asphalt mixture.
