Properties of PVA Fiber Reinforced Geopolymer Mortar
Abstract This study first investigates the mechanical and transport properties of PVA fiber reinforced geopolymer mortar, in which alkali-activated class F fly ash plays the role of binder instead of ordinary Portland cement (OPC). The fly ash was activated by 10 M NaOH solution and mortar cured in 80 °C for 3 days. The mix proportion was 0.4: 1: 2.75 for activator: fly ash: sand, by mass. PVA fiber was added at 2% by volume of the mortar mixture. Flexural toughness and compressive strength were determined at 7, 14, and 28 days. Transport properties of geopolymer mortar, including water sorptivity and resistance to chloride penetration, were also studied at 28 days.
