Abstract Reliability of water supply may be defined in a variety of ways. The paper begins with a discussion of the considerations which lead to selection of Figures of Merit (FM’s) and Performance Indices (PI’s) to measure supply reliability, then lists a number of possible definitions for PI’s. The following sections are devoted to methods of analysis: the statistical-analytical method, fault tree analysis, and methods for analyzing the reliability of networks.
