Integral Quantum Hall Effect
Abstract Before the discovery of the IQHE by von Klitzing et al. [2.1] there were experimental indications of the existence of such an effect. The possibility of ρ xy quantization had also been considered theoretically by Ando et al. [2.2]. Plateau-like behavior had actually been observed in ρ xy [2.3] and in σ xy [2.4]. However, accurate quantization of the Hall plateau was not achieved in those experiments.
