CPS-Based Transactive Energy Technology for Smart Grids
Nowadays, emerging new advanced technologies and autonomous systems have provided significant and basic conditions for switching from the traditional structure of the grids to build smart environments. In this regard, cyber-physical systems (CPSs) are introduced as the higher coordination and combination between intelligent computational elements and physical systems. The CPSs are taken into account as the key tools in the design of the smart built environment owing to their effective roles in various important fields that generally focused on the grid modernization process. However, effective operation of the CPSs in constructing smart environments is limited due to the lack of advanced networked-based technologies with a high energy management capability. Hence, the CPSs need to be integrated with the capable technologies that can suitably control, manage, and coordinate the intelligent systems throughout the smart grids. For this aim, transactive energy is recently proposed as a reliable and sustainable technology for creating a dynamic energy balance between supply and demand through building a sustainable energy environment considering the privacy of the users. Due to coloration exists between the CPSs and transactive energy technology in the grid modernization process, this chapter is aimed to consider the integrative role of them in the smart built environment.
