Sustainable Urban Design Strategies for Pedestrian-Oriented Neighborhood: Pozcu, Mersin

Ease of movement is a primary feature for neighborhoods, especially in the context of sustainability and livability. This study aims to develop sustainable urban design strategies with a pedestrian-oriented approach to solve the current problems in the Pozcu region. The case study area is the Pozcu sub-center, which is at the center of Mersin’s commercial, cultural, social, and entertainment life. In the context of this study, sustainable policies will be developed for the pedestrian-oriented design approach in the context of the parameters determined by examining the walkable and pedestrian-based approach literature in the study area. By identifying relevant parameters, the study will provide valuable insights for fostering a more walkable and livable environment. The ultimate goal is to enhance the overall quality and functionality of the Pozcu region, promoting sustainable and accessible urban spaces for its residents and visitors.
