    Abstract This chapter extends the previously presented theoretical background on the renovation process, cf. Chap.  3 , beginning with an overview of the state of the art of the existing building renovation (Sect. 4.1), the state of the art of the structural renovation (Sect. 4.2) and finishing with a research on the energy-efficient renovation (Sect. 4.3) including a numerical analysis of the selected case study buildings.
