Forces Related to Motions of Moored Ships/ Analytical Methods of Moored Ship Motions
Abstract The behaviour of moored ships in harbours, coastal areas or offshore is extremely complex, due to nonlinearities and dynamic effects. It is of vital importance to have methods available by which the behaviour of the moored ship can be predicted in the design stage, in order to determine the extreme loads in the worst conditions and to assess the operational limitations of the mooring system. In the past, the only way by which accurate estimates of the motion behaviour and mooring loads could be obtained was to perform model tests.
