DESIGN OF HIGH STRENGTH SELF-COMPACTING CONCRETE FOR TUNNEL LININGS
Abstract A case study is presented where high strength self compacting concrete was developed for application in tunnel linings. The high compressive loads on the tunnel, limited lining thickness and heavy reinforcement necessitated the use of such a concrete. Limitations such as the unavailability of fillers led to specific mix optimization for three tunnels in Spain. A limited study on the use of a shrinkage reducing admixture to reduce long-term deformations in the concrete is also reported.
