Numerical Modelling of the Impact of Dredging on Stability of Oum Rabiâ Estuary (Morocco) Using SWAN Model
The excess of sediments at the Oum Rabiâ estuary impacts the closures of the mouth of the river which directly influences the socio-economic activities in the region. For this reason, dredging is a key solution to avoid the excess of sediments. Further, the numerical modeling of wave propagation is necessary to study the wave’s characteristics before operating in the dredging. The goal of this paper is revolved around discussing the impact of dredging on waves characteristic, which are done at the Oum Rabiâ estuary located on the Moroccan Atlantic coast near the city of Azemmour. The impact of the seabed depression on swell characteristics is analyzed using SWAN model to check the impact of the sea depression on waves characteristics when the depth of the depression is greater than the limit depth of action of the waves (closing depth), and also in the case of the depth of the dredging trench is close to the height of the waves.
