Use of phenol-resol foamed plastic insulating material in hydraulic construction
Conclusions 1. Laboratory investigations, experimental field studies, and full-scale tests proved the possibility of using phenolic-resol foamed plastic for insulating hydraulic structures both during the construction and operation periods. 2. It was established that for practical use we can recommend foamed plastics prepared from the curing agents VAG-2 or VAG-3. 3. For temporary insulation we can recommend a panel consisting of a layer of foamed plastic PRP and paint or reinforced epoxy-coal tar waterproofing. Cheaper compositions can be used for paint waterproofing. 4. For permanent insulation it is recommended to use sectional reinforced-concrete panels with an inside layer of PRP. 5. Further observations of the insulation installed at the Zeya station will provide for more substantiated conclusions concerning the areas of its use in hydraulic construction.
