Temporary work design: the line
Abstract The jacking load is the force required to advance the complete pipe train after, or during, excavation of soil at the tunnel face. The load is a combination of face resistance to penetration of the shield, and frictional force on the following pipeline. It is important that jacking forces can be accurately predicted in practice to enable the operation to be designed appropriately.
