The Influence of Ballast Characteristics on Lateral Stability of Railway Track
Nowadays, the issue of railway infrastructure development in difficult conditions, such as constraint construction and operation, is topical. The issue about resilience of ballast in these conditions is insufficiently investigated. Therefore, the researches of the influence of ballast characteristics on the lateral stability of the track are important. There are the results of the researches by definition the forces are presented in article, which arised in the ballast prism under the influence of loads. An experimental stand is developed for the researches. It is characterized by small size, which allows to minimize labor costs and allows to make it possible to conduct a large number of experiments. There were simulated 202 experiments for the fractions of crushed stone 2–5 and 5–10 mm, which was wet and dry. The influence functions of the fraction and humidity on the behavior of the ballast material under load are revealed by the results of experimental researches. It was considered that the deformation develops sooner for 50–60% in wet condition than in dry. In addition, the larger fraction ballast withstands a higher load of 30%.
