Kerala has been inundated by floods, in 2018 and 2019 which have had a great impact on every citizen’s mind. Loss of life, property, and most importantly “dreading the next flood” has left an average person wondering if there is an end to this. Residential construction in Kerala accounts for a huge percentage of its existing ground coverage. The paper aims to bring about a useful tool for architects, specifically for flood-resistant residential design catering to Kerala. The paper attempts to make a concise design tool based on regulations and local knowledge. The tool will be designed to give out a set of concise guidelines to architects based on the inputs given, which can be easily followed in the design process. The tool will help in building a better tomorrow, in the context of global warming and increased flooding episodes across the globe.
