Simulation of Concrete-Filled Steel Box Columns
Concrete-Filled Steel Tube Columns (CFSTC) are applied widely in civil engineering, special in bridge structures, because of their high ductility and strength. As observed, local buckling effects significantly affect on the limited strength of the columns, the cause of this from factors such as imperfection and residual stress in the steel tubes. This manuscript aims to predict ultimate loads of Concrete-Filled Steel Box Columns (CFSBC) by improving confinement effects provided through steel tubes. From previous studies and based on the database of experimental tests, practical equations are proposed to determine confinement effects on core concrete (fr) based on a database of experiments. Concrete Damaged Plasticity Model (CDPM) is used for analyzing with defined parameters. The prediction of ultimate strength is compared with experimental results, the Eurocode 4 (EC4) specification to prove the efficiency and accuracy of the presented model. Obtained analysis results are more reliable than those of previous studies.
