Performance of Sidewalk in Suryakancana Cultural Heritage Area Bogor City
City sidewalks have an important function in serving the daily movement of residents and have a direct impact on the quality of life, culture, business, and place identity. Suryakancana is a cultural heritage area (Chinatown) that also serves as a tourist destination and business area with a fairly high concentration of pedestrians. Therefore, the comfort of the sidewalk is very important for this heritage area. The study aims to assess the sidewalk’s Walkability Index (WI), pedestrian satisfaction, pedestrian needs index, and sidewalks performance. The analysis uses the Global Walkability Index. The sidewalk walkability index is moderately walkable (61.13), pedestrian satisfaction index is quite satisfied (55.60), and pedestrian needs index is highly needed (94.19). This indicates that the current performance of the Suryakancana sidewalks has not met pedestrians’ expectations. To increase visitor’s mobility, the sidewalk’s performance should be improved, especially on variables recorded as high priority. Three of eight variables need attention: obstruction, infrastructure for people with disability, and availability of crossing.
