Fatigue Crack Propagation in Plain Concrete
Abstract The work in this investigation is aimed at establishing whether the empirical Paris’ Law for crack propagation in metals and rocks given by da/dN = C(ΔK)m is valid for use in crack propagation in plain concrete. Compliance and fatigue testing was carried out on single edged notched beam (SENB) specimens in 3 point bending (Mode I), and results indicate that Paris’ Law may be applicable for crack growth in plain concrete, with m being a constant and C dependent on the stress cycle ratio R.
