Simulation Studies of Structure and Vibrations of Clean Transition Metal (001) Surfaces Across the Reconstruction Phase Transition
Abstract The interest in displacive surface reconstruction phase transitions lies both in their nature of genuine two-dimensional critical phenomena and in their being driven by soft surface vibrations. This then is particularly pertinent to this meeting, where surface phonons are being widely discussed, their full temperature-dependent spectrum being now measurable and measured [1].
