Preparation and Hardening Performance of Lightweight Gypsum Mortar Based on Desulfurization Gypsum
Desulfurized building gypsum (DBG) has great application potential and can be used to produce lightweight plastering gypsum (LPG). In this work, DBG was modified by adding different proportions of sawdust, retarder, and hydroxypropyl methylcellulose (HPMC) water-retaining agent to prepare LPG. When the sawdust content is greater than 9% and less than 12%, the density and strength of LPG meet the standard requirements. The addition of more than 0.1% sodium citrate can effectively prolong the setting time of LPG, but decrease its strength. After adding the complex of sodium citrate and sodium glutamate, the complex retarders can prevent the hydration of plastering gypsum and reduce the strength of gypsum. The optimal mixing ratio is 0.1% of sodium citrate and 0.1% of sodium glutamate. With an increase in the amount of HPMC, the water requirement for the standard consistency of plastering gypsum increases, which increases the adhesion between the wall and gypsum. The viscosity of HPMC has no obvious effect on the performance of plastering gypsum, and the effect of 100,000 cps of viscosity of HPMC is slightly better. By adding sawdust, retarder, and water-retaining agent, the LPG with good performance and meeting the requirements of GB/T28627-2012 (plastering gypsum) can be prepared, which is beneficial for the comprehensive utilization of DBG.
