Cavitation erosion of turbines in the lower Dnieper hydroelectric station
Conclusions 1. It is necessary to develop soundly-based criteria for the required immersion of turbines, with allowance for operating conditions. 2. When surfaces damaged by cavitation are being built up, strict control of the blade profiles is necessary. The built-up surfaces must be carefully treated, and polishing must be used in the last stage of the process.
