Simplified Models for Earthquake Disaster Simulation of Supertall Buildings
Despite the improved accuracy of the high-fidelity computational models, excessive computational workload limits their scope of applications in the preliminary design phase. Therefore, simplified models are proposed in this chapter, which can greatly reduce the modeling and computational cost without compromising desired accuracy. The simplified models can be used for preliminary design and selection of the most appropriate structural type for a given building. In addition, based on the proposed simplified models, several related applications are also given, such as effective floor acceleration control of supertall buildings using vibration reduction substructures and rational selection of intensity measures for supertall buildings.
