Interactions at Interfaces in Layered Systems
Abstract Artificially layered systems have received a great deal of attention in recent years. One major impetus for the study of such systems was the search for alternative mechanisms of superconductivity. The discovery of superconductivity above nitrogen temperature in a naturally layered systeml has elevated the awareness of the potentially wide range of properties available in layered systems, and renewed the interest of theorists in alternative mechanisms of superconductivity connected with interactions between layers.
