Climate Adaptive Bamboo Construction in Asia-Pacific Bamboo Areas
Local climate adaptive construction is the potential for high-value utilization of bamboo resources and improvement of building sustainability. This chapter carries out fundamental research on climate adaptive bamboo construction in the Asia-Pacific Bamboo Areas, providing a reference for the climate adaptive design of bamboo construction in terms of material and construction optimization. Based on this, a multi-level comparison with timber units is carried out in parallel, which demonstrates the feasibility to “substitute timber with bamboo”, identifies the dominant bamboo variants, and offers suggestions on its market competition with timber.
