Settling velocity of irregularly shaped particles in Newtonian fluids
This work explores the expression of irregularly shaped particles in Newtonian fluids. Ta2O5 and Nb2O5 particles, with sizes ranging from 42 to 141 μm, were settled in Newtonian fluids placed in cylindrical tubes of different inner diameters (20–50 mm). The formula proposes an explicit relationship between the cylindrical tube diameter and settling velocity of irregularly shaped particles in Newtonian fluids.
