Effect of some testing variables on resilient modulus of asphalt mixes determined in indirect tensile method
The paper presents results of laboratory testing and analysis of several variables that affect the value of resilient modulus determined in indirect tensile method. The testing was performed for dense graded asphalt concrete with use of Nottingham Asphalt Tester. The influence of the following variables was analyzed: stress level, load duration (or more exactly rise time), rotation of specimen before subsequent testing, curing period which is understood here as a time at which ready specimen is kept undisturbed in room temperature before testing, testing temperature and assumed Poisson's ratio. The recommendations for practical use of indirect tensile method are presented.
