A simultaneous non-linear model for labour migration and commuting
Evers G. H. M. and van der Veen A. (1985) A simultaneous non-linear model for labour migration and commuting, Reg. Studies 19, 217–229. The paper deals with the importance of interregional labour supply mobility as a component of changes in the regional supply of labour. After an exploratory analysis of this mobility (labour migration and commuting), an explanatory framework is developed based on interrelationships between these two types of mobility. An aggregated logit model is used to model the several choices involving workplace and residential location, where feedbacks are allowed in the decision tree. Finally, empirical results for some branches of the decision tree are presented.
