PARAMETERS OF HYDRAULIC JUMP ON CORRUGATED BEDS
An alternate arrangement to confine the hydraulic jump in the stilling basins has been investigated in this paper. Experiments were performed to evaluate the effect of the dimensions of the corrugations on different parameters of the hydraulic jump. It is found that the dimensions of the corrugations do not affect the different parameters of the hydraulic jump within the range of data studied. The sequent depths ratio for jump on corrugated bed is approximately equal to the upstream Froude number and about 0.76 times the sequent depths ratio for jump on the smooth bed in horizontal rectangular channel. The length of the jump on the corrugated bed is about half of the length of jump on the smooth bed. Further, bed shear stress increases exponentially with the upstream Froude number for the corrugated bed compared to that on the smooth bed.
