Approche probabiliste de la résistance résiduelle des câbles de structures
The large number of broken wires found in the suspension cables of bridges in France and oversea has largely highlighted the absence of methods for assessing the safety levels given by their suspensions. That paper tempts to solve the problem by introducing a mechanical and statistical model for resistance in order to determine the suspension reliability if the behaviour of the constitutive components is correctly characterised. To generate that description, the model is based on Monte-Carlo simulations. The assessment method is applied to a strand and a suspension cable of the Tancarville bridge in order to assess the probability function of their residual resistance (mean, coefficient of variation…).
