A New Bridge Over the Rhine River
Started in 2014, the works on tramway Line D, awarded to Compagnie des Transports Strasbourgeois (CTS) by Strasbourg Eurometropole (EMS), are intended to extend the Strasbourg transport network into Germany and facilitate the development of cross-border links. Crossing the Rhine, this extension requires the construction of an iconic tied-arch bridge. The key design criteria and constructions are reviewed and discussed in this report.
