Tube arrangement and heat transfer characteristics of tube nest in multistage flash evaporators
The reliability of a multistage flash evaporator is dependent upon the performance of the condensers in the evaporator. The characteristics of the condensers in turn, were influenced by the tube arrangement in the tube nest of the condensers. The optimum tube arrangement was chosen on the basis of tests using a water flow simulation model, and the heat transfer performance of the condensers with a hydraulically optimum tube arrangement was confirmed with a model condenser. From the experiments on the water flow model and model condenser, the relationships between both models were made clear. The method of estimating the heat transfer performance of the condenser by using the experimental data from the water flow model was obtained.
