Structural analysis of linear elastic systems using the substructure technique
This paper discusses the theory and implementation of the substructure method as applied to the analyses of linear elastic structural systems. A short summary is initially given of the relevant theory. The method is then first presented by applying it to the analysis of building systems. For this purpose a single level substructure program is used to illustrate the concept and its application. Secondly the substructure analysis of general systems are discussed with emphasis on establishing a flexible building block approach for analyses. The discussion relates some aspects of data management and control language techniques which were used by the authors in achieving this design goal.
