Substructure technique for nonlinear analysis
This paper presents the theory and computational procedures necessary to solve static and dynamic nonlinear finite element problems, using a multi-level substructure technique. The building block procedure for structural description is described, along with the concept of a structural connectivity tree. Emphasis is given to the computational procedures associated with the solution of linear equations numerical comparisons are made with respect to two example structures, built both conventionally and form substructures.
