Effective water mist system design lessens fire danger
Water mist systems use several primary methods to extinguish a fire, including cooling, displacing the oxygen and blocking the spread of radiant heat nearby fuel sources. The water spray generated by a water mist nozzle blankets the hazard with a large number of small droplets. Water mist systems are commonly applied to compartmentalized gas turbines, which are used for power generation in many industrial installations. Water mist systems have been shown to successfully extinguish fires even if limited ventilation inadvertently occurs.
