The software package TRACE, developed by the French electricity supplier EDF, may be used to help choose the most appropriate induction heating technolgy for a particular application. The software also specifies the capacity of the electrical installation required for each technology. A number of examples are given of industrial installations, including a petrochemical application using heating tape, the use of mineral insulated cables in the steel industry and a system used to maintain a temperature of 200 Grad C in an oil refinery.
