Stability of basalt fibers in the media of hydrating cements
The stability of basalt and aluminoborosilicate fibers of different diameter under the action of alkaline medium of hydrating cement (concrete) was studied. Kinetic curves of CaO absorption by the fibers from the saturated Ca(OH)2 solutions were measured. The general regularities of changes in the tensile strength of the fibers after the aging in the aforementioned solution for 3, 6, and 12 months were established. It is shown that the data obtained can be used for calculating dependences of durability of basalt fiber reinforced composites with the cement matrices.
