Measurement of structure-borne sound power of mechanical installations in buildings
An international standard EN 12354 part 5 is being developed to allow prediction of the sound pressure level generated by active building components found in mechanical services. At present, the input data of structure-borne sound power for the prediction model is not available. A practical laboratory method is proposed to gain this input data. A reception plate of low mobility is designed to simulate conditions in masomy and heavyweight buildings. A method is described for transforming the generated laboratory data into input data for real building elements, to be used in prediction models.
