Towards multidiffusive ultrasonic propagation for nondestructive evaluation of concrete. Theoretical overview
Different analytical tools have been presented to model the coherent and incoherent part of the signal recorded after propagation in concrete. The elastic mean free path is around 5 cm (at 250 kHz), in such case the diffusion is satisfied after 15 cm of propagation. Because the two propagation phenomena depend on the same parameters (mechanical parameters of each phase and spatial distribution of scatterers), using these two models offers a new way to constrain the inversion process (by using more observables). Moreover, the uncoupled character of diffusion and dissipation parameters in the diffusion process must be exploited. This approach needs to be extended in the 3D case in order to be usefull for experimental measurements.
