Fatigue behaviour of bridge deck repaired with self compacting concrete
Bridge decks damaged by both internal actions and environmental actions need to be repaired in order to restore the initial safety level. The repair schedule counts the removal of the damaged concrete, the introduction of additional reinforcement and shear connectors and a final concreting. The present paper investigates the efficiency of repair by means of an experimental campaign on ten real scale slabs repaired with previous procedure, on which both static and fatigue tests have been performed. Test results confirm the good overall behavior of the repaired beams, putting in evidence the possibility to reduce the shear connectors by use of self compacting concrete for the new casting.
