Viscoelastic behaviour and autogenous shrinkage of early age salt concrete used in a repository for radioactive waste in a salt mine
For the backfill of a repository for radio-active waste in a former rock salt mine salt concrete is used. Salt concrete contains crushed salt instead of sand and gravel. Comprehensive laboratory tests on salt concrete were carried out to investigate its material properties. The laboratory results are the necessary input parameter for the numerical simulation of thermal stresses during the hardening of the salt concrete. This paper deals with the material parameters of salt concrete, in particular with creep under tension and under compression and the autogenous shrinkage.
