Effect of crack prevention with expansive additive in massive concrete structures
The authors proposed a finite element analysis method using a correction factor of effective Young's modulus at an early age and a strain due to expansion given by an expansive additive, in order to analyze the stress history of shrinkage compensating concrete. It was shown in the analysis of a restrained analytical model that strain history could be expressed in cases with varying directions of restraining, by reducing the expansion-induced strain obtained in an unrestrained expansion test according to the element compressive stress along each axis. It was also shown through the comparison between the analytical results and measurements for wall structures that the effects of expansive additives could be analyzed more accurately using the method proposed in this study than conventional methods.
