At the last B.H.R.A. Conference we presented data describing the use of Accelerated Aluminous Cement Concretes for field joint infilling. At that time a number of questions regarding the strength development and practical use of such concretes offshore remained unanswered. This paper presents the results of further laboratory and field experience which proves the efficacity of such systems. Also described are the installation techniques suitable for applying rapid setting conretes adapted to the different requirements for the field joint in various offshore conditions. Quality control and inspection procedures for such materials are discussed with particular reference to North Sea requirements.
